About the Maple City, Chatham ON

Chatham was minted ‘The Maple City’ in 1902 by then mayor, George W. Sulman. It was thought to have earned that nickname due to the vast number of maple trees growing within the city. Chatham, Ontario is rich in history notably serving as the terminus in the north, for the Underground Railroad. Chatham is situated within a few minutes’ drive to Lake. St. Clair and Lake Erie.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Hawaiian Pizza ( a.k.a.- pineapple pizza) was originally created at the Satellite Restaurant in Chatham?
